CCHA Director of Communications talks about MSU vs. WMU goal not being reviewed on Friday that would have tied the game for the Spartans.

Â
I spoke this morning with Fred Pletsch the Director of Communication for the CCHA about the MSU opportunity on Friday to tie the game against Western. IN fairness, after seeing the review many times it appears to me that the Spartans did not score a goal. That said, many of you emailed and asked me why it wasn’t reviewed and I wanted to fine out. I let him know I was not crying sour grapes, that after many reviews I don’t think it was a goal, but it was to critical of a situation not to take a look.

Â
I asked Fred: “With such a crucial why wouldn’t the referee have not taken the time to review it since in my opinion it was to close and critical not to review?” “I have not spoken to the referee (about that situation) but our policy is based solely on the discretion of the referee. If he feels confident in his call a review was not necessary. As far as TV being available, that does not apply to him. He only has the two overhead cameras to consult with, not the TV footage.”

I think if TV is in the house, then they have to use all available cameras to get the call right. Again, I don’t think that it was a goal, but it was to close not to take a look.
