The Spartans had all the momentum here in St. Louis for the second period. With 4:38 left in the period the Spartans tied the period from an unlikely Chris Snavely. The Spartans played they way they ended the first period and with under one minute left in the period Jeff Lerg had a great save at point blank range to stop the Bears.

The visibly frustrated Maine Goalie Ben Bishop played the puck way too much and MSU had control in the Bears end when down there. As we all know anything can happen but if you’re a Spartan you have to be more excited about the third period then the Bears.

MSU picked up the physicality in this period and clearly had the Bears feeling the pain. At the end of the second Chris Mueller who had the for sure an ESPN Sportscenter Top Ten goal in the first, had five shots.
