Pistons dispose of Cavs, but not four critical concerns.

O.K. I will admit it. I am relieved that the Cavs series is over, and I also admit that I expected it to be. That said, the Pistons made it a lot more difficult then it needed to be and in eliminating the Cavs, they left plenty of concerns for Joe Six Pack, the fan.

  1. At 7’ why does Rasheed waste so much time 3’ behind the 3-point line? When he establishes himself inside then he is able to slip to the 3-point line and get his treys. Rasheed is a lose cannon. His teammates don’t like it but Sheed is Sheed. Flip has no control over him and his play can be inspiring and it can be discouraging. As they face Shaq and Alonzo, two great basketball players not in their prime but men who play their inside role, he has to play disciplined and controlled basketball or the Pistons can not win. Sheed is the key to this series. When Sheed plays the way he should he is unstoppable. He however can be the best member of the Heat, yes I said Heat in this series if he does not play smart and controlled. I think that Rasheed is very intelligent, it however, like self control are not always in use. If Detroit loses this series look the Sheed.
  2. The Pistons must continue to move well without the ball. One of the biggest reasons that they struggled against the Cavs was that they didn’t move well without the ball (other then the first 1 ½ games) and they didn’t cover the Cavs moving without the ball well.
  3. Keep an eye for the 3rd and 4th pass. The Pistons are the most deadly team in the league when they pass for the 3rd and 4th time. NO ONE can cover these guys when they are playing Pistons ball, what happened in the Cleveland series was that they stopped it after the first 1 ½ games. They are facing to good of competition now. The Heat are neither afraid nor intimidated, they will play these guys with no fear. The Palace crowd will not affect them and the Pistons wont intimidate them. I think the Heat, no I know the Heat, wanted this match up and that is O.K. for the Pistons. When they play their game, they are better. If they don’t they will lose.
  4. Like or dislike Pat “The Greased Q Tip” Riley, you have to respect him. The Cavs won 3 games in a row and almost won a fourth and definitive one when Flip Saunders was flat out coached. Pat Riley I am telling you now makes game adjustments better then anyone in the game other then maybe Greg Popovich. Flip will be out coached, how badly will be a big key.

I told you here on the Internet as well as on TV that the only team that can beat the Pistons are the Pistons. I stand by that and we almost saw it. That said, I think the Pistons will win this in six, but I would not be surprised if they lost. I know that sounds wishy-washy but it is true. I hate to see that. Champions come ready to play all the time, and although some of the Stones do, not all of them.
