DETROIT â€“ Detroit Tigers outfielder Ryan Raburn was named the Tigers Rookie of the Year by the Detroit Sports Broadcastersâ€™ Association today.Â
Raburn batted .304 (42x138) with 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, four home runs and 27 RBI in 49 games with the Tigers. Raburnâ€™s season was highlighted by a four-hit game with two home runs and seven RBI on July 25 at U.S. Cellular Field against the Chicago White Sox. The seven RBI marked the most by a Tigers player since Carlos Pena finished with seven on May 19, 2003 at Cleveland and the most by a Tigers rookie since at least 1957.Â
Raburn will be presented with his award prior to a Tigers home game during the 2008 season.
