Kori Moster Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Cincinnati, Ohio, native earns first career honor.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Freshman Kori Moster of the Michigan State volleyball team has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon (Sept. 26). The award marks the first in Moster’s career.

In her first conference matches of her career, Moster averaged 4.3 digs per set against No. 13 Purdue and Indiana. In the service game, Moster handled 34 receptions without committing an error.

To close out the weekend, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native tallied a career-best 17 digs against Indiana, while adding 13 against the Boilermakers the previous night.

Moster backed MSU to its first road win over the Hoosiers since Oct. 12, 2007, when the Spartans defeated IU on Saturday, 3-1.

Moster becomes the first Spartan to earn Freshman of the Week accolades since Alexis Mathews earned the honor on Nov. 29, 2010.

The Spartans host both Nebraska and Iowa this weekend for their conference home openers. MSU is first slated to play the Cornhuskers on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., for Nebraska’s first competition in East Lansing as a part of the Big Ten Conference. The following night, Saturday, Oct. 1, the Green and White will welcome Iowa at 7 p.m.
