Hello again from the Spartan Nation Prep Sports Column!

MHSAA

It was a weird week for basketball; many schools shut down because of the snow. That meant fewer games to look at and find results from. There were still some great games all across the state. The countdown is on! 24 days from now we will enter into the MHSAA’s version of MaRcH MaDnEsS! Let’s take a look at the results from last week!

Low Score of the Week

Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port 41 Unionville-Sebewaing 25 (66 points)

For USA, it wasn’t their night. They weren’t able to get the shots to fall and were handed the loss. Heck, they didn’t even score 10 points in any quarter! E-P-BP was led by Shay Wruble who scored 20 points. Jake Holland and Clinton Krueger each had six points for Unionville-Sebewaing.

Coach Cottrell’s Blowout of the Week

Dearborn Heights Robichaud 63 Redford Union 13 (50 points)

Not a whole lot to say about this game. Sounds like Robichaud dominated from the opening tip to the last buzzer. Ian Nash scored nearly half the points for Dearborn Heights with his 28. Unfortunately for Redford, this game came just after their best game of the season. It was 38-9 at halftime and most of the second half was with a running clock.

High Score of the Week

Big Rapids Crossroads Academy 95 Bear Lake 93 (198 points)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information on this game. I do know this is the first time either school has been mentioned in my Prep Basketball Report.

Century Club Part 11

Dollar Bay 100 Republic-Michigamme 65

Dollar Bay coach Jesse Kentala said his team moved the ball well and shot “lights out” all night. Two players combined to hit 15 three point shots. Tim Dunstan made six three pointers and scored 35 points. He was followed by Zach Mattfolk with 28 (including eight three-pointers). For Republic-Michigamme, Jacob Finnegan scored 22.
