OFFENSE: Brian Hoyer, Michigan State , SR, QB, North Olmstead , Ohio /St. IgnatiusHoyer completed 17-of-29 passes (58.6 pct.) for 282 yards and a season-high three touchdown passes to lead Michigan State to its first win at Michigan since 1990. The senior quarterback added a 24-yard reception and surpassed 200 passing yards for the third time this season and the 11th time in his career. Hoyer opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game with a 61-yard strike to give the Spartans an early 7-0 advantage. After the Wolverines claimed a 21-14 lead in the second half, Hoyer tossed a four-yard touchdown pass to even the score at 21-21. After MSU reclaimed the lead, he put the game away with a seven-yard scoring toss with just over three minutes remaining for a 35-21 victory. Michigan State snapped a six-game losing streak in the series for its first win over Michigan since 2001.
