Spartan Nation broke the story that Akron had offered MSU DC Pat Narduzzi their head-coaching job and that he had turned it down. We were the first to report Narduzzi was in Texas A&M and was being offered the job for starting offer of $600,000 that would go as high as $750,000 per year.
Spartan Nation is also the first to report today that SEC school, the University of Tennessee recently offered Narduzzi their defensive coordinator position. The Volunteers are going through a metamorphosis as Coach Derek Dooley cleans house in Knoxville. Unlike A & M Narduzzi and his wife did not travel to Knoxville.
The offer from Tennessee that was extended to Narduzzi was for $1,000,000 per year. Narduzzi thought briefly about the offer, but did not accept it.
Spartan Nation has sat on this story until the Volunteers hired a DC, which they did on Saturday. Alabama assistant (linebacker coach) and former Spartan coach Sal Sunseri has signed with the Volunteers for nearly $800,000 per year.
We were asked by our source in the Tennessee football program to sit on the story until the Volunteers hired a coordinator to fill the position that Narduzzi did not accept.
