MSU Adds Seventh Home Football Game For 2009

The Nov. 7 non-conference game against Western Michigan has been moved from Ford Field to Spartan Stadium.

 

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State ’s non-conference football game against Western Michigan, scheduled for Nov. 7, 2009, has been moved from Ford Field in Detroit to Spartan Stadium.

 

“The economic climate has changed dramatically in the last seven months, and considering the financial risks, it was in the best interest of all parties for this game to be played on campus,” MSU Athletics Director Mark Hollis said. “We deeply value our relationships with both Western Michigan University and Ford Field.”

 

With the relocation of the Nov. 7 Western Michigan game to Spartan Stadium, Michigan State will play seven homes games in 2009, including Sept. 5 Montana State, Sept. 12 Central Michigan, Oct. 3 Michigan, Oct. 17 Northwestern, Oct. 24 Iowa and Nov. 21 Penn State.
