Raised by Two Real American Heroes Spartan 2016 WR Commit Justin Layne Comes In Rooted, Mature & Ready to Impact Spartan Football!

Justin Layne knows there are more important things than football, and he knows them from his family.

The Michigan State wide receiver recruit has two parents who served in the U.S. Military, and they instilled in him that with every touchdown catch and big win, there are more important things going on overseas.

“All they did was preach how much family is important,” Layne said. “Because of my family, going to a college is very important to me.”

The Cleveland, Ohio native said he doesn’t think he will have a problem with discipline coming from the family he comes from, and his work ethic is something Michigan State coaches are excited about.

The 180 pounder is regarded as a “weight room freak,” even though Michigan State coaches said he’ll have to put on a few pounds to be successful in East Lansing.

“I think if I didn’t go to the weight room as much I’d be like 110 (pounds),” he joked.

One thing that isn’t a joking matter to Layne, is what being a Spartan means to him.

“Not only do I get to play for one of the top football teams, but I love it there,” he said. “The fans, the family, coaches, it’s all great. I love it.”
