Your Week Six Spartans in the NFL Report

Three Spartans faced off in Sunday’s game between the Jets and Dolphins. Plaxico Burress, Eric Smith, and the Jets triumphed over Brandon Fields and the Dolphins, 24-6. Burress started at wide out, catching one pass for sixteen yards. Smith started at safety, recording one special teams tackle. Fields had a busy day punting for the Dolphins, as he booted seven balls for a 43.6 yard average.

Wide receiver Derrick Mason was traded from the Jets to the Texans last week in exchange for a conditional seventh round draft pick. Mason caught three passes for 27 yards in his debut for the Texans. Houston defeated the Ravens, 29-14. Fellow Spartan Brandon McKinney had one assist for Baltimore in the contest.

Kellen Davis reeled in two passes for 27 yards at tight end for the Bears, as Chicago trounced the Vikings, 39-10.

Linebacker Greg Jones had one tackle and Devin Thomas returned four kicks for 88 yards in the Giants’ 27-24 triumph over the Bills.

Brian Hoyer did not play in the Patriots’ narrow 20-16 victory over the Cowboys.

The Bengals and Colts, each with two Spartans on its roster, faced off on Sunday. Kyle Cook, Domata Peko, and the Bengals defeated Chris Rucker, Blair White, and the Colts in a 27-17 contest. Cook started at center and Peko, who recorded one tackle, started at defensive tackle. Rucker also had a tackle while playing defensive back for the Colts and White returned one punt for three yards.

Drew Stanton was not active for the Lions in Detroit’s 25-19 loss at the hands of the 49ers.
