EAST LANSING – The Big Ten Conference announced on Tuesday (Jan. 22) that sophomore Mitchell Lewandowskihas been named the league's second star of the week. Lewandowski scored four goals in the Spartans' sweep of Minnesota last weekend at Munn Ice Arena.

Lewandowski scored twice the Spartans' 5-3 win in game one, netting a power-play goal in the first period, and then extending the MSU lead with an even strength goal in the second period.

The following night, Lewandowski scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 11.6 seconds to go in the second period. He added another in the third period to give MSU another 5-3 win and the program's first sweep of Minnesota since 1976.

A native of Clarkston, Lewandowski ranks seventh in the Big Ten in points with 25, and is tied for fifth in goals with 11.

The Spartans travel to No. 11/12 Notre Dame this weekend to take on the Fighting Irish on Friday and Saturday.
