“I told our kids we can’t try to play BC’s game. What we have to do is go out and be who we are. Now what that does and how it impacts the game we’ll see, but if we try to get outside of what our comfort zone is, then you could be in a lot of trouble. We are not as quick as they are and I think they score better than we do, but I don’t think that means they’re better than we are overall as a team.”

On his pre-game message:

“I won’t script anything. You’ve been there through so many games, and my message has always been basic and simple. I’m not asking them to do something they can not do. I will be on them about being good with the puck, and being safe, keeping the puck in good areas, cut down turnovers, play with emotion and deal with the good and the bad. I think that’s one thing this team has gotten better at as the year has gone on. They start the year with high expectations and high individual expectations, and what I think turned the corner for this team was they put individual expectations aside and gave up on those. It became lets accomplish something and that’s a good phrase for a team to start to rally around. What you try to do is keep them loose enough, obviously, but excited.”
