Detroit, MIâ€¦The newly crowned NCAA Hockey Champions, the Michigan State Spartans will visit Joe Louis Arena to support the Red Wings in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. The Spartans defeated Boston College 3-1 in the title game last Saturday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.Wings draft pick Justin Abdelkader scored the game-winning goal with 18.9 seconds remaining in regulation, leading the Spartans to their first NCAA Hockey Championship in 21 years. This is MSUâ€™s third National Championship, the team also won titles in 1986 and 1966. Abdelkader was selected by the Wings in the second round (No. 42 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The Spartans will be honored during the first intermission of Sundayâ€™s game.
