EAST LANSING - Michigan State hockey rising senior Brennan Sanford and rising sophomore Austin Kamer have been named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar list for 2017-18, it was announced by the organization on July 27. To be eligible, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.6 GPA each semester and have participated in at least 40% of their team’s games.

Sanford carries a 3.7 GPA as a finance major. He also earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten accolades in 2017-18. The rising senior who hails from East Lansing had eight points (5g, 3a) in 32 games last year. He has appeared in 102 career games, compiling 27 points (13g, 14a).

Kamer, a Grand Rapids native and chemical engineering major, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. Kamer saw action in 29 games as a true freshman, recording a goal and an assist.

In total, there were 238 NCAA Division I men’s hockey players, including 11 in the Big Ten, recognized as AHCA All-American Scholars.
