Krug, the first solo captain with sophomore status in program history, finished the 2010-11 season with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points, good for third on the team and tops among CCHA defenders. The voting is done by polling the 11 conference coaches, based on statistics in CCHA contests, where Krug finished with 19 points to lead all rearguards. Krug is MSU’s first First Team All-CCHA selection since Jeff Lerg in 2008, and the first defenseman placed on the first team since AJ Thelen in 2004. Krug was a member of the CCHA All-Rookie team last year as a freshman, and was one of three finalists for CCHA Rookie of the Year.

Krug’s 11 goals is tied for the ninth-most in a single season in school history, tied with Thelen and Brad Fast. Fast and Thelen both earned All-America honors in the seasons in which they scored 11 goals.  Krug, who is one of five defenseman in Division I hockey with a hat trick this season, was a pre-season all-CCHA pick, and was named the Team MVP and Most Outstanding Defenseman at the Michigan State hockey banquet on March 1.Â
