On a night that started with USA getting a big win in the Olympics lead by Spartan Ryan Miller and honoring the three MSU seniors; all things followed their script.

Senior right-winger Jay Sprague started the night out with a big score and fellow senior and captain Nick Sucharski also lit the lamp in his final regular season home game. Bobby Jarosz a senior goalie played the final ten minutes and had five big saves.

Spartans dominated the Falcons all night. The Spartans looked bigger, faster, stronger and most of all more hungry the entire evening. Thanks to the outcome of another game they now have sole possession of 2nd place in the conference.

After tonight’s 7 pm final game at Bowling Green, the Spartans will get a bye in the first round of the CCHA playoffs.

In what has to be classified as one of the best coaching jobs in the illustrious history of MSU, Rick Comley did a magnificent job of getting this team back on track in 2009-2010. Now the Spartans are poised for a CCHA tournament title run and a shot at the NCAA.

The crowd couldn’t get the Olympics out of their mind at Munn tonight though. The loudest cheers of the night came at the 8:19 point of the second period. When the cameras out an older gentleman wearing a team Canada jersey on the video boards, they burst into spontaneous chants of USA.
