The Detroit Tigers began the Jim Leyland regime today in Kansas City. The Tigers used great pitching by veteran Kenny Rogers and saw a great save by Fernando Rodney. They held the Royals to 1 run and took win number one of the season in game number 1 for new skipper Jim Leyland. Rodney had a great ninth inning when he finished off the Royals 1-2-3!

As great as Chris Shelton played, both defensively and offensively, 2 home runs, the hero of the day had to be Rogers. He gave up four hits and Detroit managed to get 9.

Congrats to Leyland who picks up his first win of the season. Now there are only 81 more wins needed to meet my prediction.
