NCAA Hockey National Championship Game

Here are some real interesting notes for tonight’s game that I have learned here in St. Louis.

1. MSU and BC met in the 1959 Frozen Four Semi’s and the Spartans won 4-3 in OT.

2. MSU is the second #3 seed to advance to the final since the brackets expanded to 16 teams in 2003. BC did it last year.

3. 1998 was the last time a CCHA team made the championship.

4. Comley is 1-1 in Championship games in his 34 years of coaching.

5. Rick Comley will try to become only the third coach in history to win a national championship with two different schools.

6. Five times in a championship game a school from Michigan has played a school from Massachusetts and all five times a school from MA has won. Is six anybodies lucky number?

Props to the NCAA media folks for passing this on.
