Rainy Evening in Detroit

Rainy Evening in Detroit

By Matt Benjamin
Â
The rain cooled off the Heat.

The rain didn’t do the same to the Yankees.

Â
The Pistons rained on the Heat’s parade that would have marched them to the NBA finals for the first time in franchise history by winning Wednesday night 91-78.

Â
The Tigers didn’t rain on anything or in for that matter. They only scored one run Wednesday night, which only happened because of an Alex Rodriguez error that allowed Placido Polanco to advance to second, instead being thrown out at first. The Yankees went on to win 6-1.Â

Â
The Pistons will get another shot at the Heat on Friday night in Miami.

The Tigers take on the Yankees for the final game of this series Thursday evening in Detroit.

Â
If the Pistons lose, their season is over.

If the Tigers lose, hopefully the White Sox will too, which would allow Detroit to remain atop the AL Central.

Â
After the storm one of my colleagues turned to me at the CoPa and said, “Look there’s a rainbow.” It turns out the luck was with the Pistons at the Palace.Â

Â
Hopefully the Piston’s skill will return them to Auburn Hills for Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.Â

Hopefully the Tiger’s skill will end their four-game slide and return them to the winning column of the AL standings.Â
