TIGERS ACQUIRE FREDDY GUZMAN FROM TEXAS IN EXCHANGE FOR CHRIS SHELTON

 DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has acquired outfielder Freddy Guzman from the Texas Rangers in exchange for first baseman Chris Shelton.

Guzman hit .269 (144x535) with 92 runs scored, 22 doubles, eight triples, four home runs, 34 RBI and 56 stolen bases in 133 games with Triple A Oklahoma this past season. He led all players in the Pacific Coast League with 56 stolen bases.

Shelton batted .269 (134x498) in 139 games at Triple A Toledo in 2007, scoring 75 runs and collecting 31 doubles, 14 home runs and 65 RBI.
