TIGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH MARCUS THAMES

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with outfielder Marcus Thames, thus avoiding arbitration.

Thames saw action in 86 games with the Tigers in 2007, batting .242 (65x269) with 15 doubles, 18 home runs and 54 RBI. He hit .315 (23x73) with runners in scoring position last season.

In four seasons with the Tigers, Thames is hitting .244 (217x889) with 49 doubles, 61 home runs and 163 RBI in 295 games. Over the four-year period, he is averaging a home run once every 14.57 at-bats.
