COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 22 Michigan State women’s golf team is in first place at the Lady Buckeye Invitational and leads the 12-team tournament by 18 strokes after shooting a 27-over 603 (303-300) in 36 holes on Saturday.

The tournament, hosted by Ohio State, is being held at the par 72, 6,275-yard Scarlet Course at the OSU Golf Club and was played in extremely windy conditions, with gusts up to 30 mph. Kent State is in second place with a score of 621.

Sophomore Caroline Powers, looking for her first collegiate win, is atop the individual leaderboard with a 3-over 147, three strokes ahead of Wisconsin’s Lindsay Danielson. Powers started the day with a round of 75, but came back even stronger in the second round with two birdies and 14 pars against just two bogies to compile an even-par 72.
