State of Michigan State Athletics Podcast Episode XII

On this edition of the state of Michigan State athletics podcast, Spartan Nation senior writer Jon Schopp and publisher Hondo Carpenter discuss the upcoming football season.

The Big Ten football schedule was released, and the league is set to kickoff October 23-24.

Michigan State football will open the 2020 season against Rutgers before traveling to Michigan and Iowa for back-to-back road games.

Did MSU draw favorable matchups in the latest update to the conference's schedule? You tell us, but it features enough games where Michigan State should be competitive.

Spartan Nation publisher Hondo S. Carpenter, Sr., and Spartan Nation senior writer Jon Schopp discuss how successful Mel Tucker and his new coaching staff are going to be in year one.

Schopp believes there are at least three victories with other competitive matchups spread throughout.

Additionally, two almost certain losses will come in the form of Penn State and Ohio State.

What are the expectations for MSU? Right now, they are justifiably low, but Spartan defensive lineman Naquan Jones scoffed at 4-4 predictions calling them "disrespectful."

Is he right to do so? Or should he have fallen back considering it's Tucker's first year, and he has yet to name a starting quarterback?

Assuming it's Rocky Lombardi, what does he bring to the table that other players on the roster don't? Is Spartan Nation ready to dive headfirst into the Lombardi era?

Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
