State of Michigan State Athletics Podcast Episode XV

On this edition of the state of Michigan State athletics podcast, Spartan Nation senior writer Jon Schopp and publisher Hondo Carpenter discuss Michigan State football's fall camp.

In less than two weeks, Michigan State Football will officially kick off their season against Rutgers in an empty Spartan Stadium.

Even though Mel Tucker and his coaching staff have missed out on multiple opportunities to practice with their team, fall camp is in full swing.

So far, it's been going well by all accounts, and the Spartans have had two fully-padded scrimmages in a live setting.

But the expectations remain low, which is something the players might be using for motivation.

Spartan Nation publisher Hondo S. Carpenter, Sr., and Spartan Nation senior writer Jon Schopp discuss whether the football program is playing with a chip on their shoulder.

Schopp expects a different look and feel from the sideline this season than the last few years from players and coaches alike.

He thinks Tucker will bring a certain level of energy, discipline, and focus that fans haven't seen at Michigan State in years past.

The challenge will be putting it all together, competing for Big Ten Championships, and bringing the Spartans back to national relevance.
