Every great pass rusher has his own signature sack dance to celebrate taking down an opposing quarterback in his own backfield.

Ray Lewis had his Squirrel Dance. Clay Matthews his Predator Pose. J.J. Watt a simple finger wag.

When it came time for NC State defensive tackle Larrell Murchison to come up with a go-to move of his own, he reached back to his childhood to find just the right air guitar shredding celebration.

"When I was younger, my dad brought a black guitar in the house and we ripped it all to shreds," the 6-foot-3, 291-pound senior said of himself and his twin brother Farrell, who plays running back at Winston-Salem State. "Another guitar came and we ripped that one to shreds, too.

"I just thought about it, 'I've got to have a celebration.' I'm looking on the Internet and I;m like, you know what, I'm going to play the guitar."

Murchison has done plenty of strumming so far this season. He leads the ACC with seven sacks, five of which have come in the past two games.

He said he's having the time of his life and it shows. But he has to be careful how far he goes with his post-sack theatrics, a fact for which he was reminded after the first of his two sacks in last Thursday's 16-10 win against Syracuse.

"Last game they said 'all right, don't do that,'" Murchison said of the officials. "Not the coaches. They coaches enjoy it. I've just got to watch out for the refs."
