Nebraska baseball sputtered into the Big Ten Conference season during the weekend.

The Huskers (9-13, 1-2) managed to take just one game of the series against Michigan (13-10, 2-1), winning 13-9 Friday before dropping games Saturday and Sunday by scores of 8-6 and 6-1, respectively.

The first game had the bingo card all filled out with the bizarre.

Michigan tore off four home runs in a row in the fifth inning to go ahead 6-3, but Nebraska then hung six runs in the bottom of the inning.

In the sixth inning, the Huskers loaded the bases on three straight hit batters before tacking on four more runs. Despite two runs for the Wolverines in the ninth inning, NU started league play off with a victory.

Michigan out-hit Nebraska 16-8 on the day but was only given two free passes while walking Nebraska 11 times.

Garrett Anglim erupted for six RBIs to lead Nebraska as part of his two-hit day.

Nebraska fought back in game two to tie the game 6-6 with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Michigan added two in the ninth and Nebraska had no answer in the final frame, evening the series at 1-1.

For the only time all weekend, Nebraska had more hits in the game: 9-8. Both Anglim and Luke Jessen notched multi-hit games.

Game three was all Michigan.

The Wolverines got ahead 3-0 before a Max Anderson home run got the Huskers on the board. That was all Nebraska could manage though, as the Michigan added two more runs in the seventh inning and another in the ninth to take the series 2-1.

Nebraska heads on the road Tuesday to face Creighton.
