Nebraska took a 5-1 loss Saturday night to the host Arkansas in the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament.

Starting pitcher Chance Hroch was chased off after 3.2 innings, having given up three earned runs. Five more pitchers were needed to get through the remaining 4.1 innings. In total, Nebraska pitchers threw 181 pitchers over eight innings, giving up just five hits but walking 10 and adding another free base on a hit by pitch.

At the plate, the Huskers managed five hits, led by a 2-for-4 effort by Cam Chick. Nobody reached second base until the sixth inning. That’s when Joe Acker got to second before promptly scoring (see photo) on a Luke Roskam single.

With the loss, the Huskers move to the losers’ bracket. They’ll face NJIT, who beat Northeastern 3-2 in an elimination game earlier Saturday. The Huskers and Highlanders will play at 2 p.m. CDT  Sunday. The winner of that game will face Arkansas at 8 p.m. Sunday, needing a win to force a winner-take-all finale Monday.
