A trio of former Huskers were honored Friday night as Nebraska baseball put on a show.

The Huskers improved to 12-7-1 with an 8-4 win against Illinois in the Big Ten Conference opener.

Before the game, NU honored Darin Erstad, Shane Komine and Alex Gordon by retiring their jerseys. The retired jerseys are shown on pieces of left field fence.

Emmett Olson pitched a dandy in front of Komine, the greatest pitcher in program history. Olson threw a career-high 10 strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work, giving up four earned runs on six hits while not handing out any free passes.

Shay Schanaman earned the save, striking out two and not giving up any hits or walks in his 2.0 innings on the hill.

At the plate, Max Anderson posted a home run and three RBIs. Cole Evans put together a 3-for-4 day with a pair of RBIs.

Nebraska and Illinois continue their weekend series at 2 p.m. CDT Saturday.
