Notre Dame kicked off its 2019-20 home schedule in impressive fashion, earning a 92-57 blowout victory over Robert Morris.

The first seven minutes were competitive, with Notre Dame leading just 12-8 heading into the under 12 timeout. Over the next eleven-plus minutes the Irish dominated, out-scoring the Colonials 27-12 to take a 19-point lead into the halftime break.

Notre Dame used a balanced scoring attack to jump out to the early halftime lead. The Notre Dame defense sparked the first half run, with 11 Robert Morris turnovers being converted into 15 Irish points.

If there was any doubt about the outcome, Notre Dame ended that during the first four minutes of the second half. Five different players scored as Notre Dame opened up the second half on a 16-2 run to completely blow the game open.

Notre Dame never let up, outscoring Robert Morris 53-36 in the final twenty minutes.

Goodwin led the balanced attack with 18 points on 6-8 shooting. Gibbs finished with 15 points, Carmody and Hubby each had 13 points and senior forward John Mooney had 10 points and 10 rebounds. It was Mooney’s first double-double of the season.

After struggling from the floor in the opener, Notre Dame made 57.4 percent of its shots. During the second half Notre Dame got hot from deep, knocking down 6-12 from deep.

Notre Dame (1-1) next plays Howard (0-1) on Tuesday night at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center. The game is set to start just after 7:00 PM (Eastern) and will be aired on the ACC Network.
