During his Thursday night radio show, Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly confirmed that junior running back Jafar Armstrong and fifth-year senior cornerback Shaun Crawford would be good to go Saturday night against Michigan.

Both were expected to play as long as the week of practice went well, and according to Kelly both got through the week well and are ready to go.

On Shaun Crawford:

“He’ll play for us (against Michigan), and I think he’ll be very effective … He was put into some man coverage situations and did quite well. We really had to get a sense and feel for what he can and can’t do, and I think he feels really good about where he is, his confidence level was very high and he’s ready to compete for us and play at a high level.

““(Head athletic trainer) Rob Hunt has done an incredible job … Rob’s staff has done a great job. It’s required constant care. He’s been in the forefront of this because he has to take the time to do it, but I think they’ve done a terrific job of getting him in a position to where he can compete for us at a high level.”

On Jafar Armstrong:

“Versatility, the ability to play the running back position but also keeping Tony Jones Jr. on the field as well. To have two running backs on the field, that gives us another dimension. He’s an explosive runner, he’s physical, he can catch the football and another complementary piece to our offense is one of the things we’re looking for to balance the offense in terms of run and pass."
