Despite what some pundits are saying, Notre Dame is certainly not out of the College Football Playoff hunt. The Irish will, however, need some help. In our latest Irish Breakdown the discussion centers around Notre Dame's Playoff resume and then goes into the 17 teams currently still in contention, and why that list is going to shrink in a big way the next few weeks.

There will be a lot of chaos over the next month as undefeated teams and one-loss teams start to play each other. It has been a relatively uneventful first month and a half of the season, with most teams playing soft non-conference schedules (I'm looking at you Alabama, and at you Ohio State, and at you Oklahoma, and at you ... the entire Big Ten).

But over the next month those teams won't be able to duck the challenges presented in their own leagues.

Following the discussion of Notre Dame's Playoff resume and where things currently stand with everyone else, I discuss what I would do if I was the College Football King. There would be no 8-team Playoff for me.

I have a proposal that would keep the college football regular season as the best regular season in all of sports, the title games would still matter and we'd bring back relevance to the traditional bowl system. Then we would have a Playoff. Oh, and don't worry NCAA, you would make even more money, because that's priority No. 1 for you.
