Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly stated during his Thursday night radio show that fifth-year senior cornerback Shaun Crawford was slated to return to the lineup Oct. 26 when the Irish travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Michigan Wolverines.

Crawford dislocated his elbow during a Sept. 28 victory over Virginia, but he's now slated to miss just three games despite how bad the injury looked at the time.

The veteran cornerback racked up 12 tackles, broke up two passes and intercepted a pass this season. Crawford, of course, has had a tough time staying healthy during his career. He missed the entire 2015 and 2018 seasons with knee injuries he sustained during camp, and he missed all but two games of the 2016 season after injuring his Achilles.

Crawford was Notre Dame's starting cornerback the first four games of the season and also moved inside when the team went to its nickel defense.

With Crawford out, sophomore TaRiq Bracy has taken over at the field cornerback position, the spot he would play in the nickel defense. When Crawford returns the sophomore will likely continue that role while rotating with Crawford at the field cornerback spot in the base defense.
