Stopped by to see one of the Sunshine State’s best today. Keanu Koht, 6-5, 225, Vero Beach, FL did not disappoint.

Saw a little bit of practice, but he’s an elite talent that honestly does not need further evaluation.

One of the nicest players I’ve ever interviewed. Attentive, well spoken, humble, and outgoing. Koht has a plethora of offers.

“Yeah, they (Alabama) offered a few weeks ago.” Other offers he confirmed were Auburn, Florida, Miami and Penn State.

As for the Irish, they are likely to stop by soon, and have been in contact for a while.

“They’ve been sending me mail,” Koht said of Notre Dame.

As for fit, Koht could go anywhere. He’s well rounded. “Just wherever feels like home,” Koht said of his future college.

He wants to major in business so he will have plenty of academic opportunities.

FINAL THOUGHTS — Great kid at a great high school program. This is type of player that garners captain status as a junior and makes NFL Draft lists.

It’s rare to have that type of talent and character. Rare indeed.

I’ll be back in January for a closer look at Koht’s development and his recruitment.

Good luck to the 10-0 Vero Beach Indians as they host Treasure Coast in Friday night’s playoff action.

ND generally likes to see a player in person first. Lots of coaches are that way. I ran into UNC assistant Tim Brewster at a game in Florida recently. He literally told me he wants to get his hands on a player before offering. He wants to see a kid at a camp.

Sometimes that’s not possible, but for big state schools like UNC it’s more likely than ND, Stanford, NW, etc.

ND really likes Koht and will likely offer soon.

Why do you think ND has not offered yet? Swinging for the fences?
