Buckeyes Open As Early Favorites Over Hoosiers

Last season, the Buckeyes took care of the Hoosiers to the tune of a 56-14 blowout win at the Horseshoe which extended the Ohio State win streak over Indiana to 27 games.

Ohio State is once again expected to be a powerhouse not just in the Big Ten, but in all of college football. And it's showing early as the oddsmakers begin to start handicapping the college football season.

Last season, the Buckeyes took care of the Indiana Hoosiers to the tune of a 56-14 blowout win at the Horseshoe. That win extended the Ohio State win streak over Indiana to 27 games. What's more, the Buckeyes have beaten Indiana by 20-plus points in six of the last seven contests.

And things are expected to be much the same in 2023, as DraftKings has marked Ohio State as 28-point favorites over Indiana in Bloomington on Sept. 2.

The last time the Hoosiers didn't lose by 20-plus points to the Buckeyes was the COVID year of 2020. Ohio State beat Indiana 42-35 in a season the Hoosiers finished No. 7 in the AP Poll - the highest Indiana finished a season since 1967 when they finished No. 4.

But that was a long time ago in college football terms, and the last time the Buckeyes played the Hoosiers in Bloomington, Ohio State won 54-7. In fact, in Ryan Day's last four games against Indiana, the Buckeyes are averaging 50.8 points per game.

The Buckeyes have lost some significant talent to the NFL Draft in quarterback C.J. Stroud, offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., and wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba among others. But Day and Co. have restocked with young talent from the transfer portal and with recruiting.

We shouldn't expect anything less than a 20-plus point win on Sept. 2 in Bloomington once again.
