Dre'Mont Jones Signs With Seattle Seahawks on 3-Year Deal

Former Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Dre'Mont Jones is off to the Seattle Seahawks, and he is getting paid.

Among the flurry of former Ohio State Buckeyes signing new contracts in the NFL, defensive lineman Dre'Mont Jones rounded out the first day of the three-day negotiation period in a huge way with the Seattle Seahawks.

Jones heads to the Emerald City on a three-year, $51.53 million deal, as first reported by NFL Network. The Cleveland native has spent the last four years making a name for himself with the Denver Broncos.

His contract is front-loaded, earning $23.5 million in his first year which accounts for 45.6 percent of his total value, according to Ian Rapoport.

Jones played in 37 games across his final three seasons at Ohio State after not playing his freshman season. He racked up 114 tackles, 22 for loss, 9.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a pick-six in 2018.

The Broncos took a flier on Jones with the 71st overall selection in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, where he shined in his four seasons.

In 56 games, Jones recorded 133 tackles and 22 sacks, adding 38 quarterback hits as well.

Jones will step in and look to make an immediate impact on a thin Seahawks defensive line that only has four players under contract. Seattle plans to release Shelby Harris, while L.J. Collier and Poona Ford are both unrestricted free agents, and Myles Adams is an exclusive rights free agent.
