'Unfinished Business': Ohio State G Jacy Sheldon Returning For Fifth Season

A staple from the Ohio State Buckeyes' Elite Eight run, guard Jacy Sheldon, will be back in Columbus for a fifth go-around, she announced on Twitter Wednesday.

Ohio State Buckeyes guard Jacy Sheldon kept it short and sweet.

Sheldon needed just 22 words to announce she is returning to Ohio State for a fifth season next year Wednesday. She is coming off a season in which she played a career-low 13 games and 10 starts due to injury and in her tweet said there is "unfinished business."

The Dublin, OH. native was limited to just six regular-season games, playing in just one between Nov. 30, 2022, and the Buckeyes' first Big Ten Tournament matchup against Michigan on March 3.

Sheldon scored just 18 points in 44 minutes in the Big Ten Tournament and only one in the championship-game loss versus Iowa.

Then, when the bright lights came on, Sheldon showed out.

In Ohio State's four March Madness games as part of its first Elite Eight run in 30 years, Sheldon averaged 17.3 points per game in four NCAA Tournament games.

Against North Carolina in the Round of 32 in Columbus, she hit the game-winning shot with 1.8 seconds to go to send the Buckeyes to the Sweet 16.

When she was on the floor, she and guard Taylor Mikesell were crucial in running the Buckeyes' full-court press, which forced 20.1 turnovers per game. Mikesell will be moving on to the WNBA.

Against Boston College on Nov. 13, 2022, Sheldon tied Lisa Cline's single-game program record with 11 steals.

Sheldon has one year of eligibility remaining, as her fifth year in the scarlet and gray will be the year granted to student-athletes from the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season.
