You wanted defense...you got defense.

The Sooners landed a HUGE in-state recruit, in 4-star defensive end, Ethan Downs.

The number one player in the state of Oklahoma has always had dreams of playing

in Norman and last night, those dreams became a reality when he announced, via Twitter, his commitment to OU.

With the likes of LSU, Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma State recruiting the DE, Downs could never get over his love for the crimson and cream. The love for OU runs deep in his family and the offer could not come soon enough. Over the course of several camps during the summer, the Sooners took a long look at Ethan and decided to offer.

Downs is listed as a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and a three-star by Rivals. The ceiling is extremely high for the newest Sooner commit. By the end of his senior year, it would not be shocking to see a fifth star next to his name.

The Sooners are sitting with the ninth best recruiting class in 2021. Yes, it is early and a lot can still happen, but the potential for this class, while only sitting at 3 commits, could be through the roof.

Lincoln is putting a clinic on-- in terms of offensive talent--and recruits across America are intrigued. The amount of NFL talent, Heisman winners, and number one picks in the last 3 years is enough to entice any elite recruit.

Brock Vandagriff (#1 QB in the nation), Cody Jackson (4 star WR), and now Ethan Downs make up the young 2021 class. We will continue to monitor other recruits and report as developments happen.
