UPDATED: Cowboys Among Three Schools to Land 2020 Wing

STILLWATER -- Earlier this past week, I wrote how Moncrieffe appeared to be down to just three schools: Oklahoma State, Georgetown and Seton Hall. Well, a few days after the article by Maven/SI's Director of Basketball Recruiting Jason Jordan on Moncrieffe's potential decision, the talented Canadian wing has officially cut his list to three.
He's even getting some encouragement from the No. 1 player in the country in the 2020 class, five-star guard and Oklahoma State signee Cade Cunningham. Cunningham, along with four-star signee Rondel Walker were both in Stillwater for Oklahoma State's 73-70 upset of No. 24 Texas Tech on Saturday.
Moncrieffe is a 6-7, 195-pound forward out of Orangeville Prep in Ontario, Canada, is a four-star prospect in the 2020 class. He was in Stillwater the weekend of Jan. 27 on his official visit, the same weekend as the Kansas game.
Moncrieffe has taken official visits to his final three schools, which means he still has two official visits left. While it's possible he could still end up taking the other two just for the sake of taking them, but with the announcement of the final three, I doubt it.
“I’m going down the checklist of each school right now,” Moncrieffe said. “We’re going deep into it; just looking at the synergy, the stats, how their style fits with my style and everything.
“We’re really taking our time and weighing things out right now,” Moncrieffe said. “I’ve had three great visits so now I need to clear my head and really figure things out. I have great people around me to help me so I feel like we’ll know more soon.”
While Oklahoma State has a great recruiting class and great potential heading into the 2020 season on their side in recruiting Moncrieffe, Georgetown and Seton Hall have former teammates of Moncrieffe to aid in their recruiting process. There's Seton Hall freshman Tyrese Samuel and Georgetown junior Jahvon Blair.
So, it'll be a fun process to watch as we get closer to the spring signing period and I'd expect each school to try and get Moncrieffe on campus for unofficial visits before the end.
With the three spots that Mike Boynton and Co. still have in the 2020 class, two other prospects to keep an eye on are wing JT Thor out of Norcross, GA and guard Donovan Williams out of North Star (NE).
