STILLWATER -- It's been quite the Wednesday for Chuba Hubbard. First, he gets named a Midseason All-American by just about everyone who gives out the award: the Associated Press, The Athletics, CBS Sports, Athlon Sports and Pro Football Focus. Then Oklahoma State begins his Heisman campaign. okstate.com/CanadasCowboy

Through the first six games of the season, Hubbard has rushed for 1,094 yards, that's an average of 182.3 rushing yards per game and he also has an average of 193.0 all-purpose yards per game.

He's produced three 200+ rushing yards performances this season, 221 yards against Oregon State, 256 yards against Tulsa and 296 yards against Kansas State.

But I don't even think that the Midseason All-America status or the Heisman campaign is the coolest thing to happen to Chuba this week. Just minutes after Oklahoma State announced the campaign on Twitter, the hockey GOAT himself, Wayen Gretzky, sent a shout out to Chuba wishing him good luck.

For those of you that might not know hockey, just imagine if Michael Jordan sent a video message to the Oklahoma State basketball Twitter account wishing Cameron McGriff good luck. Pretty cool huh?

Oklahoma State and Chuba Hubbard still have a long way to go though. We're only at the halfway point of the season and the Pokes have some tough games ahead of them.

Obviously an undefeated No. 18 Baylor team comes to town this weekend for Homecoming, but the Pokes will have to face a tough Iowa State team on the road and they'll finish out the season against one of the best teams and quarterbacks in the country in OU and Jalen Hurts. Thankfully, they face the Sooners in Stillwater, but it's still going to be difficult.

I understand that the two losses the Pokes have suffered so far this season, Texas and Texas Tech, aren't good news for Hubbard's chances. But if Oklahoma State finishes the season strong and Hubbard continues down this statistical path, there's no way the Heisman committee won't have him in New York for the ceremony.
