Oklahoma State is preparing to face Kansas, a team that's been trouble the past few weeks

STILLWATER -- After a (another) much deserved week off, Oklahoma State is getting back in the saddle and preparing to face Kansas. While the Jayhawks certainly aren't the best team in the conference, region or country, they're still a team that's been known to cause problems.

With this being the start of game week, we're going to be taking a quick look into a couple of different areas, with more in-depth looks coming throughout the week.

We'll start with the most recent news to drop, the updated College Football Playoff rankings.

Even with having the week off for a bye, Oklahoma State moved up a week to No. 22 in the latest edition of the rankings that was released Tuesday evening.

Chuba's Still Keeping His Head Down

Just as it is with the updated playoff rankings, Chuba Hubbard remained the nation's leading rusher despite the off week. He's up 153 yards on the second-place back, Boston College's AJ Dillon. He's also in the top-five for yards per carry at 6.8, second with 18 touchdowns and first in yards per game with 178.2.

Despite all of that, and the fact that Canadian super star Howie Mandel sent out an 'urgent message', Chuba's still just keeping his head down and grinding.

“I appreciate all the love,” said Hubbard. “I’ll always appreciate that type of stuff, but like I’ve always said, I don’t focus on it too much. I just really care about winning games. It’s all cool and stuff, and I’m honored to be in that position, but it’s not my main focus.”

Honoring the Military

Ever since the Athletic Department released the details surrounding Oklahoma State's military/ROTC inspired uniforms for the game against Kansas, it seems that everyone just can't seem to get enough.

Tuesday evening, we got a fresh perspective about everything that went into the creation, implementation from the man who's behind every OSU football uniform: Justin Williams.

These uniforms weren't a spur of the moment idea either.

"We got with Nike a couple of years ago and just talked about ideas for coming up with a unique way to show support for the military," said Williams. "We met with several Nike officials and just talked about different ways to put this thing together. We came up with some ideas, talked to the ROTC here and made sure they were cool with it. This kind of came about a couple of years ago, coach [Gundy] got on board and supported it, we got it approved and here we are."
