Holding Pattern: Game and TV Details for Oklahoma State at Kansas State To Be Announced This Weekend

ZachLancaster

STILLWATER --Game and TV details have been announced for week 10 action in the Big 12 and there are two options on the table for Oklahoma State at Kansas State.

The Cowboys and Wildcats will either kick off at 11 a.m. CT on ABC or 3 p.m. CT on FOX.

If I had a say in the decision making process, I'd pick 11 a.m. on ABC every day of the week and twice on Sunday. That first game of the day, especially on ABC is usually always a great match up and this game is shaping up to be no different.

Oklahoma State remains at No. 6 in the country following the 24-21 win over No. 17 Iowa State on Saturday and Kansas State moved up to No. 16 in the country following a dominating 55-14 win over Kansas.

The Cowboys face a tough Texas team this weekend in Stillwater for a Halloween showdown and the Wildcats travel to West Virginia for a showdown with the Mountaineers.

We'll know our answer to the channel and time following and depending the outcome of both of these games this weekend.

Oklahoma State continued their winning streak this past weekend with an impressive win over a tough Iowa State team. This was the first game back for quarterback Spencer Sanders who's missed time following an ankle injury against Tulsa in the season opener.

It was his first full game in 51 weeks as he missed the rest of the 2019 season after he injured his thumb against Kansas last year. So there was a bit of rust that needed to be knocked off. It took a few series to get going, but Sanders finished the game going 20-of-29 for 235 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

As for the Cowboy defense, they remain one of the best in the country. The Pokes held Iowa State to seven first half points and 3-of-13 on third down conversions on the game. They also finished with seven tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries, four pass breakups, three sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

As for the leading back in the conference, Breece Hall, other than one carry for 70-yards and another of 66-yards and a score, he had 18 carries for 52-yards. As for the rest of the Cyclones, they had 91-yards rushing on 33 carries.

As far as bringing eyeballs to OSU, the 11 AM game is definitely better. With the Cocktail Party being the 2:30 CBS game all anyone would see of ours is the final score.

If we get vote I like 3😜.

Clearly the later game is preferred, since that means that we beat Texas and KSU likely won, giving us the better viewing slot. You lose half the country with 9:00 am start time PST. Any body afraid to match our product against the Cocktail Party should not really be calling themselves an OSU fan, IMO.

It's worth getting wound up about, until we beat Texas.

Cocktail Party drew 6.98 million viewers last year and was the most watched game of the week and in the top 10 for the regular season, OSU's most watched game was Bedlam which drew 5.82 million. Our game that was in the same time slot as the Cocktail Party last year vs TCU drew 800K.

Got nothing to do with being an OSU fan to recognize we aren't near the TV draw UGA and UF are.

LOL... you funny.

Huh? I mean seriously, Huh?

I guess nobody told you that THIS YEAR OSU is ranked #6, and THIS YEAR, we're playing TEXAS, not TCU. Do you watch OSU sports?

No, we're playing Kansas State.

UGA and Florida, provided they win, will still both be in the top 10. UGA and Florida will be bigger brands than OSU and Kansas State no matter what. The average unaffiliated CFB fan would default to watching the cocktail party. If we want the most viewers for our game, we do not want to be counter programming to the cocktail party, we want to be the biggest game when we're on the air.

What is your argument for more people watching #6 OSU vs #16 KSU over #5 UGA vs #10 Florida if they are airing at the same time?

sorry, I don't when the cocktail party is... never watched it.

But, exactly, the battle for the Big12 lead is much, much, much more relevant than the battle for 2nd tier in the SEC, since both UGA and Fla have lost to the other division. The only story for the cocktail party is whether they wear masks and are properly socially distanced.

Bring them on. We need the best time slot available, regardless of supposed viewer competition. Clearly we can draw away from that stale game, and beat the numbers you quoted for us last year.

Go Pokes!!

That will be for the sec east( 2nd best conference in USA rite)

both are elimination games for the MNC charade. Both of the sec east have already lost to the sec west... so it's mostly a meaningless game. Uga playing for the "rite" to lose to Bama again?

Actually Florida is 2-0. A 1 loss east team or 2 loss will trump a 1 loss big 12

I guess Florida does have a loss.

yeah, ya think? I only said that 3 times

Still doesn't matter the winner of that game will play in the playoff if we lose a game.

naw... the winner of the cocktail party is not in the playoff. There are too many other good teams left.. perhaps 2 from the ACC (Clemson, ND), or tOSU or Oregon.

Nobody is going to want to see Bama and UGA play 3 times in a season.
