Transfer Portal Wide Receiver Zakhari Franklin Commits to Ole Miss

After speculation of him being a "silent commit" to the Rebels, Franklin broke the silence on Saturday.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Zakhari Franklin had certainly been trending towards the Ole Miss Rebels since his entrance into the transfer portal, but on Saturday, he made the move official, verbally committing to Lane Kiffin and staff.

The wide receiver made the announcement on Twitter on Saturday evening.

Franklin is the school record holder with the UTSA Roadrunners for the most single-game, single-season and career receptions. He also holds the highest single-season and career receiving yardage marks and the most single-season and career touchdown catches in Roadrunners history.

Speculation swirled earlier this week on whether or not Franklin was bound for Ole Miss with the term "silent commit" used, but now, he is officially heading to Oxford. The news comes on the heels of wide receiver Chris Marshall's dismissal from the team earlier this spring, another portal addition (and then subtraction) at Ole Miss from the Texas A&M Aggies.

Franklin will join yet another transfer addition in the wide receiver room with Tre Harris (Louisiana Tech Bulldogs) who has been projected to have a strong season in 2023. These names and others on the roster will look to alleviate the blow felt by Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath's departure to the NFL this offseason.
