'20 Penn State Commit Jaden Dottin (WR) Highlights + Evaluation
After a stellar junior campaign at WR and Safety, class of 2020 athlete Jaden Dottin looks like he can play any skill position he wants. He's the type of receiver that can stretch the field using route running, leverage, and his knowledge of coverages. His speed is decent but isn't what he relied on to create separation from defenders. More impressive was his jumping ability and ball skills.
The hops make more sense when you find he grew up in a basketball family and grew up training with now Towson University starting guard Jakigh Dottin.
But rest assured Penn State fans, Jaden is a football player. His film showed his understanding of coverages from an offensive and defensive perspective. This baseline knowledge of both Off/Def is becoming increasingly rare in the game today and likely will be absent from the game as a whole very soon. Coaches are making the decision to focus their player's attention on one side of the ball, in an effort to limit the (semi)-preventable concussions that happen when two-way fatigue sets in.
Penn State got an athlete in Jaden Dottin, and projects as an outside possession receiver at the next level. He's also the 2nd wideout in State's 2020 class, alongside a Juco speedster Norval Black (Lackawanna College, Scranton PA) whose highlight tape has some AMAZING grabs.
Penn State's 2020 class is now sittin' pretty at #10 in the nation (Rivals).
