For their performances in the thrilling 24-22 victory over Northwestern on Saturday, both wide receiver David Bell and kicker J.D. Dellinger earned Big Ten weekly awards on Monday.

In what’s becoming commonplace this season, Bell took home Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for the third time. He previously won it for his performances in the Maryland win and the Iowa loss.

Bell played a major role in the win, catching a career-high 14 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. His 14 catches were the most by a Purdue freshman since 1997, and it was the fourth time this season that Bell has topped the 100-yard mark.

Maybe the only guy who played a bigger role in Saturday’s win was the guy who won the other award — J.D Dellinger.

Dellinger grabbed Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week for his game winning 39-yard field goal with three seconds left in the game. The kick was Dellinger’s second game-winning field goal of his career and gave him 30 career made kicks, moving him into seventh all-time in Purdue history.
