Mel Kiper ranks Tanner McKee as the No. 10 QB in the 2023 NFL Draft

It is also the time of the year where ESPN's Mel Kiper releases his rankings of players in the draft, and his latest rankings will upset Stanford fans and may confuse the football world. In ranking the top-10 quarterbacks of the draft class, most people have Stanford's Tanner McKee somewhere near the middle or the top, but Kiper is clearly not as high on the signal caller from the Farm.
McKee came in as the No. 10 quarterback, ranked behind notable passers such as No. 8 Stetson Bennett, No. 6 Jaren Hall, and No. 5 Clayton Tune all of whom are typically viewed anywhere from a day three or possibly even undrafted players.
Kiper's ranking is unlike many of the other quarterback rankings as he is so high on Kentucky's Will Levis that he has him ranked as the No. QB in the class. For comparison, PFF ranks McKee as the No. 5 while Bennet isn't even ranked in their top-13, Hall is ranked No. 10, and Tune is ranked No. 9.
A reminder to Stanford fans who will likely take this to heart, Kiper also at one point said that he'd retire if former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL quarterback, so keep that in mind. In terms of McKee, he genuinely seems like one of the bigger mysteries of the draft, as some outlets have him viewed as a late first while others think this past season of work will see him drop dramatically.
He doesn't have the chance to show out at the Senior Bowl, which is allowing for some of the aforementioned passers to surpass him in the rankings. Only time will tell, but the draft grade on McKee continues to be all over the place.
