Stanford releases statement following latest wave of realignment

One of the biggest questions in college sports right now is what will happen to the remaining four programs in the Pac-12.
The Pac-12 lost five programs on what was a purely chaotic Friday, seeing Oregon and Washington leave for the Big Ten and Utah and the Arizona schools jump to the Big 12. The moves set the college football world on fire, but when the dust and excitement settled much of the attention has since turned to the four programs who are without a home.
Now obviously they can remain in the Pac-12 and hope the conference can revive itself, but based off what was an uninspiring statement released by the conference and the fact the conference has done nothing but fail its teams for the past year, that seems irresponsible. I wrote about what Stanford's four options appear to be in terms of where they can go, and it seems based on the release by the university that they will look to make some sort of move.

The statement, while it doesn't hint towards what they plan to actually do, does emphasize doing what's best for the student athletes. Stanford is the winningest program in all of college sports, and while it is quite shocking to see them out on this island of misfit toys they do appear to have more options than the other three.
It will be up to the leadership of the university to make the right decision to ensure they can continue their success.
