Fisher confident Quartney Davis' injury won't effect season

The Aggies top target did not suit up against Lamar.

COLLEGE STATION - Earlier this season, Texas A&M would begin the year without wide receiver Kendrick Rogers. The junior wideout missed a majority of fall camp with a leg injury.

On Saturday, the Aggies rested wide receiver Quartney Davis for the same precautionary reasons. Following the team's 62-3 victory over Lamar, A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher stated that the junior should return soon.

"Yeah, Quartney he had something that was tweaked and turned and just bothers him too much to take a chance on it this week," Fisher said. "So he should be full go and ready to go."

Despite losing one of their top targets, A&M's offense was productive against the Cardinals. Kellen Mond threw a season-high 317 yards, completing 20 of his 28 passes. Jhamon Ausbon finished with four receptions for 106 yards and scored a 10-yard touchdown late in the third quarter.

Cameron Buckley and Rogers combined for 10 catches and 143 total yards.

"Kellen I thought played a really good game, pulled the ball, read the ball pretty much," Fisher said postgame. "Had the one play in the second half, he didn't see the guy over the top on the deep ball. Other than that, I don't think there were too many bad decisions in that regard."

With the start of Southeastern conference play, A&M's offense will be the focal point against the No.8 Auburn Tigers. Davis is expected to return to practice and likely will play next week at Kyle Field.

Through two games this year, Davis has collected 11 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown.
