COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M's season could be heading south following Saturday. The Aggies sit at 3-3 following their loss to Alabama but hope to rebound. Their first test to show the AP voters who they are will come on the road against the inconsistent Ole Miss Rebels.

Ole Miss has flashed potentially thanks to an impressive run game and defensive front. Still, troubles have been seen through the air and in coverage, leading the Rebels to hit the midseason mark at 3-4. The good news for them is Matt Luke will be able to trick the Aggies with the likes of his dual quarterback system in Matt Corral and John Rhys Plumlee.

The Aggies could be in trouble should the run game stall, but stopping Ole Miss' ground attack will help. The team could rebound or fall deeper down the SEC hole, depending on how Saturday goes.

Here's everything you need to know.

When: 6:30 P.M., Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi

Line: Texas A&M +6

Television: SEC Network

Records: Texas A&M (3-3, 1-2 SEC); Ole Miss (3-4, 2-2 SEC)

When Ole Miss is on Offense

The Rebels could have the ability to be more than a one-dimensional team on offense. The problem is we've yet to see it thus far. Ole Miss has heavily relied on their run game to pick up a majority of scores.

Scottie Phillips has been serviceable as the team's feature back, rushing for 471 yards and five touchdowns through seven games. Jerkin Ealy can win in the open field thanks to his top-caliber speed. He currently is averaging 7.1 yards per run this year.

Rhys Plumlee has predominately used his legs to carry the team with the absence of Corral. The freshman quarterback currently ranks second on the team in rushing yards with 470. Corral, however, also has speed and a better throwing mechanic, making him perhaps the better option under center.

Luke stated earlier at his press conference this week that A&M would need to prepare for two quarterbacks. Just because the team likes to run doesn't mean they won't pass as well if given the opportunity. For now, the Aggies will need to eliminate the run to see what the Rebels quarterbacks can do through the air.

When Texas A&M is on Offense

We know what the Aggies can do through the air. What everyone is still trying to figure out is what can they do on the ground. Once again, A&M was limited running the ball, failing to find a rhythm against Alabama.

Establishing some type of consistent run game will be beneficial. The Rebels defense could make it tough though as they are allowing roughly 118.4 yards per game on the ground. Isaiah Spiller has been inconsistent at best, while Jacob Kibodi has yet to prove he could be a leader in the backfield.

Pressure will be on Kellen Mond to keep drives alive. The Aggies passing attack has improved, but much like Ole Miss, being one-dimensional could raise problems down the line. Consistency will be beneficial to both units to win.

Ole Miss Will Win If They: Capitalize on Big Plays

Throwing the Aggies off the trail could play in the Rebels favor. Rhys Plumlee is known for his 4.55 speed while Corral is better known for his arm. That doesn't mean both can't incorporate the other's skills into their play calling.

Rich Rodriguez has worked with multiple dual-threat quarterbacks in the past, leading to trickery in his offense. The Aggies could be fooled by a Rhys Plumlee, believing a run is a pass. Making mistakes in coverage, a significant gain could turn into a score for the Rebels offense.

In close games, sometimes one big play is all it takes to win. Rodriguez should have several plays circled on his sheet that could help lead the team to victory.

Texas A&M Will Win If: They Score Early Through the Air

The Aggies have a strength that could pull at the Rebels' weakness. Ole Miss currently is struggling in the secondary, allowing roughly 300 passing yards per game, 121st nationally.

A&M could need to score early to win. Attacking through the air using one of the five effective weapons, Mond could find the end zone and repeat the system consistently. Once the team can take the lead, they could try to establish the run game, being content with several drives ending in punts.

The Rebels' inconsistencies on the deep end could help the Aggies set a tone early. Scoring through the air will likely be the best chance for them to win. Should they be able to score and hold Ole Miss' offense to limited plays, this could be a quick outing in Oxford.

What's on the Line

Both teams need to win. The Rebels are trying to find out if Luke can be the leader of the program moving forward. Despite struggles, his staffs and players love working with him, making it harder to let him go. But wins matter and another losing season could be the end of his era down at 'The Grove'

Texas A&M needs to win to prove they were contenders. Although a three-loss team, each one came from an opponent ranked in the top 10. Should the Aggies lose to a struggling Ole Miss, that likely will say more about their issues rather than the Rebels.

Prediction

This could be a weird one out in Oxford. The Aggies haven't looked their best away from Kyle Field, struggling to produce early and finding a rhythm on offense. That could lead to poor execution through the air, turnovers and perhaps even a lack of effort.

Last season, A&M was able to correct their woes against the Rebels at Kyle Field. Perhaps it's a positive sign for them moving forward as the team won four straight on their way to an 8-4 regular-season record. The next four games are all very much in the Aggies' favor.

The team will need to start fast and set a tone. With a struggling defense, Ole Miss will likely allow a big play through the air. It won't be easy, but the Aggies start the second half of the season on the right note. Here are hopes that could lead to a promising finish moving forward.

Final: Texas A&M 34, Ole Miss 20
