Jalin Hyatt Officially Receives Biletnikoff Award

Tennessee Volunteers' standout receiver Jalin Hyatt finally received the hardware recognizing him as the nation’s top receiver

Former Tennessee receiver Jalin Hyatt received the Biletnikoff Award trophy on Saturday after winning it on December 8. The award is given out annually to the nation’s top receiver, with Hyatt winning over other finalists Marvin Harrison Jr. out of Ohio State and Xavier Hutchinson out of Iowa State.

The recipient is determined by a committee of over 630 journalists, commentators, broadcasters, and former players. Foundation Trustees do not hold a vote. The winner does not necessarily have to be a wide receiver, as it is awarded to the nation’s top receiver, regardless of position.

Last season, Hyatt was at the forefront of Tennessee’s extremely explosive offense. The junior wide receiver had 67 receptions for 1267 yards and an astounding 15 touchdowns in 12 games for the Volunteers. His best performance of the season was in Tennessee’s biggest win. In the victory over Alabama, Hyatt had six catches for 207 yards and five touchdowns.

Many recent Biletnikoff Award winners have succeeded at the next level. In the last ten years, Amari Cooper, Ja’Marr Chase, and DeVonta Smith have been just a few of the players to take home the award and have gone on to prove their worth in the NFL. With the combine behind us and the draft quickly approaching, Hyatt will look for a similar trajectory.
